The environment

In the southeastern corner of Friesland the forests dominate the landscape. Both Staatsbosbeheer and Fryske Gea manage beautiful forests, large and small, where it is wonderful to relax. The Tjonger (or Kuinder, as the Stellingwerver call the river) and the Linde run through the area. Here you can enjoy natural tranquility. And the hustle and bustle? You can find it only 20 minutes away in Heerenveen and Drachten, for example. Leeuwarden, Assen or Groningen are approximately 30 minutes away. And Giethoorn is also only 29 km away.

Some highlights

It is less than half an hour by car to end up in the Kale Duinen (Aekingerzand) of the Drents-Friese Wold or on the wet grounds of the Fochteloërveen. This area is also suitable for hours of cycling or hiking.

Behind the bed and breakfast is a forest where you can go hiking, cycling or horse riding. And they make cycling very easy here in Friesland. The whole of Friesland is equipped with the cycle junction network and therefore you can easily find your way in the beautiful surroundings. We highlight one of the routes: the Makkinga-Beetsterzwaag cycle tour. A ride of about 75 km. We enjoy the scenic landscape here, where you can walk or cycle from a tree wall, through a meadow, into a grove.

From the B&B you can easily reach the Spokeplas recreational area. A wonderful place to cool off on a summer day. For the children there are some climbing attractions (see the video on the right). The water is not too deep, at the deepest point about 2 meters.

The area also has several tea gardens, including De Buytenplaets in Noordwolde. You will find the tea room in a beautiful garden. The more than 6000 m2 garden with cozy corners and comfortable garden furniture is the perfect place for a High Tea for example.
